Throughout the years the Fish For Free days have moved around on the calendar some - some years being consecutive days (usually a weekend). This year they are on summer holidays:
MAY 30TH & SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2011 ARE "FISH FOR FREE" DAYS IN PENNSYLVANIA. (Memorial Day & Labor Day).
To learn more about how these days are chosen, click HERE.
These days are a great opportunity to introduce someone to fishing or to allow families at holiday parties to fish together without having to worry about having a fishing license. It also gives folks from out of state a chance to fish in PA who have never done so before without spending the money to pay for a license, too.
Another thing to be aware of throughout the year is the Fish & Boat Commission's Fishing Tackle Loaner Program. This works just like a library, only with tackle. At designated locations you can borrow rods, reels, tackle boxes with terminal tackle, etc. When you're done with them you return them - just like a library book. This makes it even more convenient for folks to get out & try their hand at fishing in PA. So get out there & show someone how to fish & take advantage of these great programs in PA.
