Split-Bamboo Rod Tapers:
When you order a rod from me we aren't limited to any of the tapers listed below. You can have just about any rod action, length, & number of rod pieces that you want in your fly rod. The rod tapers, or actions, listed below have all proven themselves to be good rods for their intended use in the past & are among the more popular ones rod clients have requested. Of course, any of these tapers can be "tweaked", or adjusted, to meet your needs. I offer this list to give you an idea of what is possible & what others have previously chosen for their custom fly rods.
*All rods are available as 2, 3, or 4 piece rods except where noted.

13.) 8'-0", 5 wt: A slower, traditional trout rod based on on the Payne model 103.
14.) 8'-0", 5/6 wt: One of the most versatile rods going. Based on the Paul Young "Para-15". It comes with two different tips - a wet & a dry with two different actions. This rod will cover just about any fishing you want to do from panfish to bass. With the wet fly tip on you can easily take this rod up to a 7 wt line. This is a classic, parabolic action rod. Available as a 2 piece only.
15.) 8'-0", 6 wt: A very slow, wet fly rod with a lot of power based on an old Leonard taper.
16.) 8'-0", 7 wt: A relaxed, slower rod made for casting bigger, buggy flies. Once you slow down your casting in time with this rod, you'll be casting larger flies accurately with ease. Plenty of backbone here for larger fish.
17.) 8'-6", 5 wt: An extra fast rod made for western waters where wind is a problem. Based on the Granger Aristocrat rod.
18.) 8'-6", 5 wt: A medium / fast action rod great for all around fishing. One of the best rods to own as it will cover so many different fishing situations. Also available as a 6 wt.

21.) 9'-0", 9 wt: A faster powerful rod made for big water & big fish.
22.) 9'-6", 6/7 wt: Not necessarily what comes to mind when you think of a trout rod, but this one certainly is. 100 years ago this rod would have been considered normal in length. Made for larger rivers &/or lakes, this faster action rod is no buggy whip. It will cast dry & wet flies like any good trout rod as well as streamers. A great rod for bigger waters on windy days.
