These reels were also made - or cheaper copies of them, I should say, for a time in the 1960's with the Heddon name on them, the Heddon Daisy 300 models. These are also of the same design & are nice reels in their own right, but not of the quality in materials of the Hardy reels.
The Hardy Lightweights are changeable to either right or left hand wind. It's really simple to convert these reels over for which ever hand you want. Rather than go into some long technical explanation, it's easier just to show you. Below is a good video showing you how to change from LH to RH retrieve & also where to lubricate these reels. A little regular oiling & cleaning & these reels will last you a lifetime of fishing.
