(from their website):"Our mission is to help parents get their kids outfitted for fly fishing and further enhance their fly fishing experience by providing a central location where all manner of information needed to do so can be found. Additionally, we hope to provide an inter-connective, mutually beneficial site for kids and the fly fishing industry as a whole. This site is a venue for communication as pertaining to everything needed to Take Kids Fly Fishing."
The website is a great resource covering many topics of fly fishing, all aimed towards kids. The website can help you find a rod & reel appropriate for a kid & compares prices of different outfits, so parents can decide ahead of time how much they want to spend on tackle. It also discusses waders, fly fishing youth camps, kid friendly fly fishing guides, fishing vests & outer ware, along with dvds, books & games for fly fishing kids.
In addition to all that there is the TKFF Blog, which is updated often & covers all fly angling topics & news pertaining to kids. Also, you can post photos of your kids fly fishing & their catches on the "Reel Kids Gallery."
On a personal note, I grew up in a family where we all were using fly rods. I come from a long line of fly anglers. No, I'm not trying to brag or anything - I just want to say that those times I spent along the water with my fly rod were some of the best memories I carry from childhood. I was lucky to have great teachers in the sport & was lucky to be exposed to it at such a young age. I'm grateful for it. Not all kids are so lucky. So, if you know a kid that you think would benefit from learning the sport, I encourage you to get them involved & this website can help you out. For me, fly fishing was a family activity. I encourage you to make it a family activity for yours. Your kids will reap the benefits of your encouragement for the rest of their lives. Besides, fly fishing beats playing video games any day!!!
