                  Available For Sale

                  7'-0" 2 piece, 2 tip, 4 wt.

FOR SALE:  7ft, 4 wt, 2/2. Never fished from my Classical Series, this rod features hand made "British" twist stainless steel line guides, a down locking slide band reel seat with high grade aluminum hardware & a walnut wood spacer, chrome stripping guide & tip top, along with a plain nickel-silver winding check. The red silk wrapping color over lighter toned cane is a very traditional look. The ferrules are made of Nickel-Silver by master machinist Tony Larson of Rush River Rods - the finest ferrules available. The rod shafts are made from the same culm of bamboo. The rod tip sections are mirror matched - that is, where you see a node on one tip, there's a node in the same place on the other tip. The node placement follows the "3x3" method. This rod comes in a brown cotton flannel rod bag & a suede covered rod tube. This is a full bodied traditional bamboo action rod, inspired by the classic Payne 98. A wonderful casting rod, it would be quite at home on any eastern trout stream. It is a joy to cast!! Click on any of the photos for a better look.

PLEASE NOTE: while this rod has never been fished, it has been used as a demonstration rod having been lawn cast only. Still, I cannot sell this rod as new. Since it doesn't have your name or other personal inscription, I've reduced the price. This is a good rod at a great price & I don't think you'll find a better bargain for a hand made split-bamboo fly rod anywhere. At this price you are essentialy buying an entry level "Prudential" rod & getting a second tip section for free!!! When the rod arrives to you, take 5 days to inspect it. If you're not satisfied for any reason you can return the rod to me (at your cost) in the same condition you recieved it for a full refund. Contact me about this rod.

                  Horrocks-Ibbotson "Governor" 9'-0" 3pc / 1 tip (RESTORED)

This is one of the better H & I rods I've seen. It's most likely from the late 1940's to the early 1950's which, according to some experts, was when H & I did their best work. Unlike earlier H&I rods, this one does NOT have a metal rod in the middle.

I have restored this rod including new varnish & line guides. Originally this rod didn't have enough line guides. I've put more guides on it & in the proper locations so this rod will now cast a line better than it ever did. I've kept the original grip, reel seat, winding check, script, decals, ferrules, & tip top. The rod now has brand new black snake guides, chrome stripping guide, & red silk wraps with dark blue tipping (in keeping with the original wrap colors).

The decal on this rod is the desirable rainbow trout & diamond design. It's in fair condition with only a small piece missing above the trout's eye, back, & tail. It's uncommon to find much of the decal on rods of this age. This rod has more decal than most (click on photos for a better look). The script is in the white ink. Another decal of "Genuine Tonkin Cane" is also present.

This rod should cast a 6 or 7 weight line for you quite well. Some angler's may even get away with a 5 weight line. It has a medium-slow action.

So baisically, what we have here is an affordable, vintage bamboo fly rod with a new lease on life. It is now, I believe, the rod it always could have been as it looks better & casts a line easier than it ever has before. Click on any of the photos for a better look.

This rod comes in a soft cotton rod bag & a zippered top, padded, canvas covered rod tube. If you have any questions about this rod, please contact me
                  .

St. Croix "Pacemaker" 6wt, 2/1, Fiberglass (Restored)

Here is a vintage fiberglass St. Croix fly rod available for sale. This rod was made in the USA  between the years of 1961 to 1969. It is marked for a 6 wt line. This rod is from the time when manufacturers were transitioning from the old letter designations to the current number system we use now for fly lines. The rod shaft is marked: "Line D (L &F), HDH (DT-6F)."

The original label on this rod is about 80% intact. I have restored & redesigned this rod by adding the proper amount of line guides & putting them in the locations that make this rod cast better than it ever did. This rod has a nice, medium, traditional fiberglass action. Now that it has the line guides in the right sizes & places, it's now a pleasure to cast.

This rod has it's original chrome reel seat, cork grip, winding check, ferrules, & tip top.

I have given this rod a new finish, new black snake line guides, chrome stripping guide, soft rod bag, & a padded zippered top rod tube with leather label. In addition to the new varnish on the rod, all the nylon guide wraps have been replaced with fine diameter silk thread, matching the rod color.

Please click on any of the photos for a better look. If you have any questions about this rod, please contact me.

                  Price: $75 + $20 shipping & insurance* = $95 total.

Rod Bags (for 2 pc / 2 tip rods)

I have available for sale three soft rod bags. These are nicely made in my shop of good quality khaki - colored material featuring red embellishments. They also feature a loop for hanging your rod & removing it from a tube & a closure flap to help protect tip sections. These are brand new & never used. They were part of a run of bags we made & never used. Being slightly odd sized, I thought I'd offer them here to you. To see if these bags will fit your fly rod, measure the longest section of your rod & compare it the measurements of these bags. Made for 2 piece / 2 tip rods, if your rod only has one tip section, simply slide a wooded dowel rod into the spare pocket. It will help protect the tip section. (click on any of the photos above for a better look)

There are three bags. The first will fit rod sections that are 53 3/4 inches long; the second bag will accommodate rod sections 46 3/4 inches in length & the third will hold sections of 47 1/2 inches long.

Sold at a discount price of $15.00 each (+ $3 shipping to lower 48 states).

                  Fishing Bags

Made from green canvas material (duct), this bag is big enough to carry everything you'll need along the stream. Made by my Dad, Bill Lantzy, this is a very well made & durable bag that will stand up to many years of heavy use. This bag features four (2 on each side) smaller side pockets perfect for holding tippet spools, leaders, split-shot, cell phone, & other items. The two large front pockets are big enough to load up with your "go-to" fly boxes, a spare reel, a folded map, etc. The area inside the bag is open to accommodate all your other gear for along the stream plus a water bottle & your lunch for the day - with a top flap that keeps the contents safe & dry. All pockets feature snap closures on this green bag. On the front pockets are two 3" x 3" wool drying patches. The shoulder strap is adjustable. This bag measures 14" wide, 10" tall, & 4" thick when empty. Click on any of the photos above for a better look.
This brown bag is the same as the bag above, except that the fabric has been doubled, making it much siffer & stronger than the green bag. In addition to the same features - two large front pockets with drying patches, 4 smaller side pockets, adjustable shoulder strap - this bag's front pockets & top flap have snap closures, while the side pockets feature velcro closures. This bag also measures 14" wide, 10" tall, & 4" thick when closed. Click on any of the photos above for a better look.
These bags are both made in The USA. There are only one each of these available at this price. These bags served as prototypes for the design of future fishing bags I offer on my accessories page. These are extremely well made bags & will last a lifetime. I would proudly compare these bags to other, more expensive, fishing bags. A great alternative to a fishing vest. If you have questions about these bags, contact me.

                  Fly Reels

This is an entry level fly reel. Perhaps the best way to describe it would be as a Japanese - made Medalist or Martin knock-off. The reel is in good condition & functions just as it should. The previous owner(s) took good care of it. It shows only light wear. The spool is aluminum & the frame has a black matte finish. However, please note that the black paint is slightly chipped in some places but overall in good shape. Drag mechanism works as it should. Use this as a back up reel to keep in the car or truck, or for a beginning angler on a tight budget. Click on any of the photos above for a better look.

                  Price: $10.00 (+ $5.00 shipping in lower 48 states).

                  Martin Model 63

This is a vintage - made in USA - Martin fly reel, model 63, in used condition. This reel is completely functional. The only problems with it are cosmetic. The reel foot & line guards have been painted chrome, the black paint of the frame is slightly faded & has a few scratches. The spool face is perfect & the spool release spring works like new. The drag mechanism works just as it's supposed to. I have cleaned this reel up & lubricated it & it works just fine. Perfect fly reel for someone on a budget or any Martin collector. Please look at the photos to see the reel's condition. Slight wear & rust on the frame, otherwise a fine working vintage reel. Click on any of the photos for a better look.

Book: "Lefty's Favorite Fly Fishing Waters"

                  Picture
This is a brand new, never read book. One corner of the cover has been bent very slightly - otherwise this book is brand new. 176 Pages. Published, 2005. Product description:
For almost forty years, Lefty has been fishing all over the States. He's had his share of river washouts, sun-bright salmon days, cloudy bonefish skies, fishless days, and busted trips. Fly fishers have been begging him to pass along some of his best finds, so Lefty Kreh has written a wide-ranging travel book to do just that.

Making his case that the U.S. contains simply the best and most diverse fishing in the world, Lefty shares his favorite trout, smallmouth bass, and shad spots in the Northeast and Middle Atlantic; largemouth bass holes in the South; freshwater fish dens of all kinds in the Midwest and West; and Pacific salmon and steelhead runs in the Northwest. And he also covers the incredible variety of fishing holes to be found in the completely different fisheries of Alaska and Florida.

He didn't just go on memory, either. Each write-up has been checked out by a local fly-fishing shop or professional outfitter, who have added their own comments.

From all these thousands of rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, lagoons, and oceans, Lefty has chosen just forty waters. Sure, it was an impossible task, but somebody had to do it-and who better than Lefty Kreh?
